Superintendent's Monthly Message

October 2015

The school year has gotten off to a very good start.  I attended each of the Back-to-School Nights and met a lot of you.  Thank you all for having your children ready to go and serious about their learning.

If your child rides the bus you know we have had issues this year.  I apologize for the delays and confusion.  We believe the major issues are solved and are hoping for minimal problems during the rest of the year.

We recently received our Smarter Balance test results and were pleased.  As a district, our scores were among the highest in the county.  In fact our third and fourth grade students had the highest overall math scores in the county!  We are proud of our scores and hope to improve upon them this year.

I was able to participate in our recent Washington Union Educational Foundation (WUEF) Golf Tournament and had a great day. The WUEF parents and volunteers were awesome and put on a great golf tournament and dinner.  Thank you WUEF!

One of the goals I stressed upon taking this position was that I wanted to have an open line of communication with you all.  My email is listed on our web page and I answer all emails.  Additionally, now that the year has started I am going to schedule a monthly open house, here at the district office.  These will start at 8:30AM, for about an hour, right after the San Benancio students get into their classes.  The first one will be on Monday, November 2.  Feel free to come by, see the district office, and ask questions.

Thank you!

Kevin Vaughn
